This beautifully shaped vessel is called chah patra/tea vessel in marathi; It was traditionally used for making sweet masala chai/tea. I personally put it to multiple uses, considering its versatile shape, with a well fitted lid, to cook lentils, rice, boil milk/steam vegetables or even storage of whole spices. It has been freshly tin lined on the inside.Used prudently,(i.e. wooden ladle for stirring, clean after each use with regular detergent),the tin coating lasts many years). To keep the outside in mint condition, scrub the brass with used lemon wedges or a tiny bit of tamarind, soaked in water).
