This is a vintage, over 50 years old, stacked lunch tiffin carrier.It is not only an evocative design that is aesthetically pleasing, but extremely practical and sturdy. These were work horse designs, that were meant to be used every day to bring art into daily life. The fitted lids on each compartment mean that, they can be used as individual independent dishes.

The hand made tiffin carriers’ designs were highly evolved and a lot of time were patented. The latch lock makes it very convenient to open and close the stacked boxes and make them stay steady in the frame.

The outside has been polished and the inside freshly tinned, and ready to be used.

For care, the outside can be scrubbed with tamarind, lemon wedges or pitambari, ( a copper/brass polishing detergent powder) easily available in grocery stores. The inside can be scrubbed with any regular dish washing detergent.
